History
When the Lambda chapter of Delta Gamma was founded in 1887 at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, it became the fourth national Delta Gamma chapter and the second sorority formed at the University of Minnesota.

Sisterhood
As Delta Gammas, we pride ourselves in our strong sisterhood. We love having sisterhood activities such as movie nights and going out to dinner. Social activities such as formals, date parties, and exchanges are always highlights of the semester. In Spring 2011, we had a blast at our 80's Date Party, Kentucky Derby Formal, and many exchanges including a snow tubing exchange.

Philanthropy
Delta Gamma Fraternity, in accordance with its motto, "Do Good," is dedicated to preventing and curing blindness. Service for Sight was born out of a suggestion in an alumnae workshop at Convention in 1936. The enthusiasm of one particular member, Ruth Billow, H-Akron, who was blind herself and spoke from notes typed in braille, was the spark which brought acceptance of Service for Sight as our national project. Since 1952, Delta Gamma has given over 1 million dollars to various organizations in the United States and Canada.

Delta Gammas at the University of Minnesota help others in a variety of different ways. DGs volunteer their time at the Lions Eye Bank, Vision Walk, Service Dogs of Minnesota, and Presbyterian Homes. Additionally, Delta Gammas raise money for the Service for Sight foundation through an annual Anchor Splash competition and an annual fundraising feed. In addition to our foundation work, Delta Gamma adopted 6 blocks of University Avenue on campus.

Scholarship
Delta Gamma places a strong emphasis on academic success. The DGs of Lambda chapter are in a wide range of colleges and majors. Delta Gamma recognizes high academic achievements by handing out "Smart Cookies" at meeting each week and holding a Dean's List Dinner each semester. There are also 24/7 quiet study areas in the formal living room and the chapter room, which members use to complete required study hours each week. At Delta Gamma, there are many academic resources and helpful sisters available to help all DGs excel in their studies.

Involvement
Delta Gamma encourages its women to be active in campus life by participating in activities besides Greek Life. Through involvement in these activities women build friendships, professional networks, and leadership skills.
